Smoking Cessation
The only thing a client requires
is to
bring with them a positive desire to
stop smoking.
We can then help them to achieve this end.
How does the process
work?
Under hypnosis, the client's subconscious mind
will be willing to accept suggestions which they would not accept
or would ignore in the normal waking, conscious state. As
a result, suggestions can be placed which will affect the motivation
and behaviour of the individual, so supporting their resolve
to be a non-smoker.
While we expect the motivated client to stop
smoking after the first session, we do recommend a second one. In
the second session, the suggestions given initially can be reinforced
and, perhaps even more importantly, if the client has experienced
any residual desire to smoke, the therapist can assist the client
to try to discover why this might be.
Often our behaviour is prompted from within
as a result of subconsciously held beliefs and if there is a
conflict between the rational conscious mind and the subconscious
conditioning, the individual can find themselves behaving in
a contradictory and sometime self-abusive fashion (smoking being
a form of self-abuse).
Utilising hypno-analysis,
the therapist can help to unearth any root causes (faulty wiring),
analyse and help the client to eliminate same.
A
word of caution however!
We here at the Corsebar
Hypnotherapy Centre are not
magicians - though we would love to be! We cannot
fiddle with your mind and send you off a non-smoker without
your active participation. If we could -
we would be very rich and very famous!!
This is your fight - but
we can help.
Medical research has shown that of all the options available
to help people to stop smoking, Hypnotherapy is the most effective. Whilst
success cannot be guaranteed, those who stop, with the aid of hypnosis are
less likely to return to smoking and tend to suffer less withdrawal
symptoms.
Weight gain is not inevitable!

Weight Control
Welcome
to the Corsebar Hypnotherapy Centre's philosophy on weight loss
(if
your problem is one of being underweight - we can help you too)
*****
FORGET
DIETING
RELAX INTO FOOD CHOICES & SELF ACCEPTANCE
ENJOY
LIFE
&
WATCH YOURSELF BECOME THE PERSON YOU WANT TO BE!
The key to weight control is
relaxation
- relaxation around and about food.
Remember - diets are only ever
temporary!
Hypnotherapy allows the client to
reconnect with what it feels like to be really, really relaxed and
they then can take back control of their lifestyle choices.
Hypnosis is utilised to harness the subconscious
into allowing the client to gain more control over their response to
food by by means of positive suggestion therapy.
Furthermore, any inappropriate relationships
which may have been established between the client and their food,
can be investigated through hypnoanalysis. This allows for
understanding of the root causes of negative, food related
behaviours which in turn assists in the reprogramming and acceptance
of better beliefs and attitudes.

Phobias
DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ALONE
IN WHAT YOU ARE AFRAID OF?
YOU'D BE SURPRISED!
A phobia is an irrational fear. The
irrational nature or this fear however, does not decrease the
severity of the experience.
Practically every client who has attended for hypnotherapy for
assistance with a phobia will have said, at some point in the
initial consultation,
'I know its silly to be afraid of xyz, ......but.......'
But no - it is not silly! The fear is very real.
What the individual is experiencing is a conflict. A
conflict between their:
- rational, critical analytical conscious mind - which
recognises the illogical fear response; and the
- uncritical subconscious which believes the fear reaction to
be appropriate.
Hypnosis can be utilised to harness the subconscious into
allowing the client to gain more control over their response by
utilising a combination of positive suggestions and desensitisation
visualisations.
Whilst this alone can be very powerful, it is usually necessary
to address the deeper cause of the phobia.
Phobic responses are rooted in the early developmental years,
although they may not become troublesome until triggered later in
life.
To try to resolve the phobia permanently, it is important to
identify the root cause and to reprogramme the individual's
response. This can be achieved through hypnoanalysis - see FAQs
Phobias know no limits. Phobias we have treated to date include
fear of:
flying, dogs, cats, birds, worms, buildings, types of people, snails,
vomiting (self and/or others), illness, old age, eating, food
(general or specific types), needles, hospitals, dentists, loosing
teeth, losing a loved one, growing old....the list is endless.
If you feel that you are phobic about something outwith this
range and want to know if we can help, see the Contact page and get
in touch as soon as.

Stress
Reduction And Relaxation
Hypnotherapy allows you - the
client -
to reconnect with what it
feels like to be really, really relaxed.
Even after one session, it is
likely that an improvement will be experienced, as in many cases
of prolonged stress, the client may have forgotten entirely what
it feels like to be truly relaxed.
During the deeply relaxed state,
it is possible to anchor various techniques which can be brought
into play, in order to allow an individual to regain control of
their reactions to any situation, no matter how stressful. This
ensures that the client is more in charge of how they feel and in
turn this can allow them to take back control of their life.
Much ill health (dis-ease) is underpinned by
stress and clients attending for other problems may find a
decrease in their overall stress levels as a by product of this
powerful therapy and vice versa. In this way too, hypnotherapy can act as
a preventative measure by reducing the client's chances of
developing stress related illnesses.
Whilst it is important to relearn how to relax
in order to assist in the management of day to day life stress,
this reconnection with the body's ability to relax deeply can be
further utilised to assist people in any stressful
situation such as public speaking, examinations, stage performance
and sports performance.

Alcohol
And Substance Abuse
HYPNOTHERAPY CAN HELP IN THE FIGHT AGAINST DEPENDENCY
ON ALCOHOL OR OTHER SUBSTANCES
BY ROOTING OUT THE ORIGINATING SOURCE OF THE BEHAVIOUR
The physical addiction to any sort of substance
is often only the tip of the iceberg and while this may be
tremendously hard to overcome, positive suggestion therapy can be
very powerful in supporting an individual going through such
withdrawal.
However, underpinning much abuse of alcohol or
drugs, is a psychological addiction, which can be much more
insidious. With the application of hypnoanalysis, the
subconscious may reveal the hidden rewards of such
self-abuse.
Once a client gains an understanding of the
deeper associations of their behaviour, a strategy can be
developed to assist the individual to reprogramme their thinking,
under hypnosis and in so doing, overcome the dependency.
At the Centre here, we take a holistic approach
to helping those who find themselves in the powerful grip of
addiction and include nutrition and life style advice
as well.

Insomnia
SLEEP DEPRIVATION IS
EXTREMELY DEBILITATING
Break the vicious cycle with hypnosis.
Anxiety is a principal cause of
insomnia, which in turn creates a higher level of anxiety, which
in it's turn, extends the period of insomnia as the sufferer
worries about the inability to sleep and the results that a lack
of sleep might bring.
Hypnosis, can help in two main
directions. Firstly, the sufferer can be taught how to relax
properly, which in itself will help to alleviate the symptoms, but
secondly, and more importantly, utilising hypnoanalytical
techniques, the sufferer can identify the root cause of the
anxiety thereby diminishing it's ability to influence behaviour.

Sports
Performance
PERFORMANCE AT AN EBB?
LOST YOUR EDGE?
LOST YOUR CONFIDENCE?
Many athletes or participants in any sport,
plateau when they have reached a certain level of performance.
If they start to become concerned about this, the stress response
will begin to inhibit their natural abilities and performance may
even begin to decline. This cycle becomes self-perpetuating.
Further, if an individual has not been
achieving what they consider to be their par - they can lose
confidence too. Hypnosis allows them to address this through
the use of suggestion therapy.
Hypnosis not only allows the individual to
regain control over their response to stressful situations, but
through the use of visualisation techniques their skills can be
'practised' and perfected in a very relaxed ambience. The
visualised experience then becomes a blue-print for the mind
- a plan which the player can then employ to achieve the
outcome they desire during the next 'real' application of their
skills.
Occasionally there may be a deep seated cause
for their inability to fulfil their full potential.
Hypnoanalysis can utilised in such a situation to identify and
root out such self-defeating beliefs.

Anxiety
And Panic Attacks
DO YOU SOMETIMES FEEL OVERWHELMED BY DREAD FOR NO OBVIOUS REASON
DOES YOUR HEART RACE AND YOUR STOMACH KNOT?
DO YOUR SURROUNDINGS APPEAR UNREAL?
OTHER SYMPTOMS INCLUDE:
Chest Pain,
Palpitations, Breathing difficulties, Sweats, Nausea, Difficulty
in swallowing
and Dizziness.
General
depressive state,
Irritability, Feeling isolated, or like you are going mad or
losing your self-control and Disturbed nights with vivid and scary
dreams.
Panic attacks create feelings
of high anxiety and are often, though not always, experienced in a
particular situation such as in a train, a busy shop, alone,
or in crowds - the list is as endless as it is personal.
The thought patterns of the individual suffering a panic or
anxiety attack are often similar to those which a phobic might
experience.
An individual may only
experience a panic attack infrequently yet still find themselves in a
state of dread, either because they recall that situation, and/or fear
that it may happen again. This kind of excessive worry before the
situation has even happened is sometimes referred to as pre-anxiety,
or a pre-anxiety attack.
By vividly imagining a
reoccurrence of a panic attack the individual sets off confirmatory
internal messages which in themselves create the feelings which they
describe as 'panic' internally, and this in turn produces a loop - a
vicious cycle. Often the sufferer will be unaware of this pattern.
Panic attacks start to occur when the body
overreacts to this cycle of stress - the flight or fight mechanism -
and the chemicals in the body start to become imbalanced.
RELAXATION through Hypnosis can start the process of righting this
imbalance.
During the deeply relaxed and
altered state of awareness which is hypnosis,
it is possible to reconnect with what the body feels like when it
is completely at peace and then, utilising various techniques, anchor
these feeling so that they can be recollected as and when
necessary, in order to allow the individual to regain
control of their reactions whatever the situation, no matter how
stressful. This ensures that the client is more in charge of how
they feel and in turn this can allow them to take back control of
their life.
Much ill health (dis-ease) is underpinned by

Wedding
Nerves
What on earth has Hypnosis got to do with weddings?
And NO – its not meant to
hypnotise your partner into getting wed!
Hypnosis is just a way to help make your day both exciting and
pleasurable.
When large sums of money may be spent, every
detail has been planned and replanned and the whole focus is on that
24 hour period – tensions can run a bit high.
Hypnosis can take the edge off that nervous
tension – not eliminating the excitement – but turning what can
be an ordeal into a happy and enjoyable occasion. The results obtained
through hypnosis are invaluable in the run up to the big day too.
In the deeply relaxed state which is hypnosis,
suggestions placed in the subconscious can help to induce a state of
composure no matter how anxious or stressful the moment may be.
Remember – if you are the
bride you might be cool as a
cucumber or if you are the groom,
you may well be a balanced individual who takes life as it
comes. Fine, then you may not feel any need of such a service, but
who else in the wedding party might benefit?
What about poor
Dad– and then there is the the
Best Man? Standing up to make a
speech is not something many of us relish. Lack of experience in
addressing an audience can aggravate confidence issues and turn the
experience into a nightmare. Something they could be spared.
Then there is
Mother of the Bride. She is
often, though not always, the one who feels ultimately
responsible for ensuring all goes well and while hypnosis cannot help
to alter the outcome of events outwith one’s control, it can help
individuals to control their reaction to whatever happens.
There are other areas
too in which hypnosis can be utilised to gain the optimum from your
wedding experience. Perhaps that beautiful dress is a little tight?
See WEIGHT CONTROL (top of page)
Or is it the flight
for your honeymoon which is worrying you? See
PHOBIAS (top of page)
Maybe you have decided
that now is the time to stop smoking before you marry and start a new
life? (See above also)
Hypnosis can be of
assistance in a wide range of ways. So when you are ticking off your
list of things to organize – church, cars, dress, cake……..don’t forget
….think HYPNOTHERAPIST!

Sexual
Dysfunction And/Or Fertility Problem
SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION IS MORE COMMON THAN YOU THINK
DON'T SUFFER IN SILENCE - WORRYING ON YOUR OWN WONT HELP
Many medical condition, such as high blood
pressure, diabetes, disease or injury to the nervous system,
hormonal problems, depression, abuse of alcohol or drugs, smoking
and certain prescribed medications, may underpin sexual
dysfunction in men and women. It is therefore, essential that a
full physical examination be carried out by a medical professional
prior to considering help for psychological influences.
That said - stress, low self esteem, self abuse
through over utilisation of harmful substances - alcohol, tobacco
or other drugs, poor communication and further factors such as
upbringing, religious beliefs, emotions and attitudes to previous
sexual behaviour can all have a detrimental effect, firstly on the
sexual act and secondly, on fertility of either the man or the
woman.
Many of these problems can be addressed by
hypnotherapy.
First and foremost the ability to
reconnect with what it feels like to be completely relaxed
under hypnosis can be the vital key in relearning
the ability to relax during what should be an intimate expression
of love and affection. Suggestion therapy can be very
powerful in this situation, but the utilisation of hypnoanalysis
to reveal any underlying causes for reticence or discomfort -
mental and physical - during the sexual act is also a major
influence.

Pain
Management – Post Operative And Childbirth
I
f
YOU DON'T BELIEVE YOU CAN HAVE CONTROL OVER PAIN?
READ
ON
Hypnotherapy can be utilised to
assist the client in controlling the experience of
pain. Where pain can be managed in this way, the
requirement for drugs, either post-operative or
during/after child birth can be reduced. Any
reduction in the need for pain killing drugs speeds
the patients recovery and has great advantages for the
health of Mother and Baby.
The same technique can be further
utilised in phobic situations where the client is
afraid of, say needles and/or visits to the dentist.
Individuals who live with the
chronic pain of arthritis and related problems, can
also be assisted to create for themselves periods of
pain free time, which can make a huge difference to
their quality of life.
Under hypnosis, the client is
encouraged to create an analgesic response in their
dominant hand which is then transferred to different
parts of the body. They are also, under
hypnosis, taught how to induce hypnosis themselves
(self-hypnosis), so that they can in turn,
develop that analgesic response for themselves as and
when required.
The client is instructed however,
that utilisation of this process to eliminate pain,
the pathological origin of which is unknown, will be
unsuccessful. This is because it is recognised
that pain is natures way of telling the body that
something is not right and should be investigated.

Irritable
Bowel And Digestive Problems
DON'T LET
THAT BLOATED FEELING RULE YOUR LIFE
KICK THE
STRESS
It is well known that Irritable bowel syndrome
(IBS) and other digestive problems are exacerbated by stress.
It is in relearning to control reactions to
stressful situations that hypnosis can be invaluable to sufferers
of this condition. Many clients who attend for other
disorders, but who also endure IBS, report a reduction in the
severity of their discomfort as a by-product of what they
experience during both the hypnotherapy and the relaxation
sessions they have with their tape/CD between sessions.
